WhatsApp is piloting a new feature that lets users quickly search the contents of viral messages into fact-check misinformation, the company has announced.
In a screenshot of this feature Back in April, it placed new limitations on the forwarding of viral messages.
WhatsApp afterward said the step had cut on the spread of viral messages from 70 percent, even though it’s impossible to know how many of these messages included misinformation.
WhatsApp is providing users the capability to fact-check data themselves, instead of the company scanning messages for common conspiracy theories.
